Harlingen, Texas, is about to be 100 years old and you're invited to THE PARTY OF THE CENTURY.
In preparation for the upcoming centennial celebration in 2010, the Mayor has created the Harlingen
Centennial Celebration Committee. The Committee will be instrumental in planning the activities and
events for the City's Centennial Celebration and will also play a significant role in highlighting our
accomplishments, our heritage and our pride in this beautiful town we call Harlingen.
The Harlingen Centennial Celebration Committee is chaired by City Commissioner Larry Galbreath.

PONY Baseball and Softball of the Rio Grande Valley
Protecting our Nation's Youth is active in the Rio Grande Valley and is keeping young people involved with softball and baseball throughout the year. PONY will be hosting a National Championship Tournament in Harlingen from July 28-August 3.
The Gladys Porter Zoo is an oasis nestled in the center of Brownsville, Texas. With 26 acres of lush tropical plants and some 1,600 animals, the Gladys Porter Zoo is known for its successes in breeding endangered species of wildlife.

Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge
Laguna Atascosa NWR is the largest protected area of natural habitat left in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, an oasis for wildlife with few alternatives.
Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge
Along the banks of the lower Rio Grande is the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge, a 2,088 acre refuge established in 1943 for the protection of migratory birds.

Rio Grande Valley Film Commission
The Rio Grande Valley Film Commission is a co-op organization consisting of local Chambers in the RGV and other interested individuals and organizations who wish to promote the film industry. The Film Commission is dedicated to attracting film projects and serving as a liaison to assist film makers in having their film projects run as smoothly as possible.
Harlingen Country Club is a private, member-owned club located near the southern tip of Texas. Full amenities include an 18-hole, par-72, championship golf course with practice facilities, five tennis courts (lighted for night play), fitness center, and Olympic size swimming pool. It is the intent of the Texas Tropical Trail Region Board of Directors to showcase the heritage, natural beauty and diverse culture of South Texas for the benefit and enjoyment of Texans and travelers. To achieve this goal, the Board must first join hands with our tourism partners, community leaders, and state and local entities to identify, preserve and interpret our natural, historical and cultural resources.
Monthly meetings with educational presentations are the workshops to help make this goal a reality. These meetings are open to the public.
