Universities
Harlingen is home to Texas State Technical College (TSTC). TSTC offers training in over 30 technical programs, including computer information and telecommunications, manufacturing, engineering, allied health, transportation, aviation and agriculture. TSTC provides the academic core and technical training necessary for students to achieve a world-class education and successful career.
In addition, TSTC recently opened their new University Articulation and Career Center on the TSTC campus. The Center is home to several public and private universities that will facilitate TSTC academic transfers to bachelor degree programs. Those in the community that wish to continue their education to higher levels can now earn master and doctoral degrees locally.
Harlingen also is home to the Regional Academic Health Center (RAHC) , a geographically separated campus of the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. The RAHC offers educational programs and support for third-year and fourth-year UTHSCSA medical students, as well as the UTHSCSA residency in Internal Medicine under the sponsorship of Valley Baptist Medical Center (VBMC).
To the South of Harlingen in Brownsville is the University of Texas at Brownsville. UT Browsville has been a part of The University of Texas System since 1991 and offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs.
North of Harlingen in Edinburg is the University of Texas Pan – American (UTPA), the tenth-largest university in the state of Texas. UTPA serves the Rio Grande Valley and South Texas with baccalaureate, masters-level, and doctoral degrees.
Other various community colleges, such as South Texas College are within the area and offer great technical degrees!
